Recruitment is such an exciting time of year on both ends! Whether you’re recruiting girls for your sorority or you’re are the one being recruited, it’s exciting and nerve-racking all the same. You don’t have to be recruitment chair to plan the whole thing. It takes all your sisters help to come up with ideas for themes and decorations so that everyone’s personality is shown! Here are a few ideas to get started:
First thing you want to do is come up with a general theme of your recruitment. There are SO many different themes your sorority could do but some of our favorites are Wizard of OZ, Around the world with *your sorority*, Alice in Wonderland, and Nautical. Another theme could be all about your sorority. For example, for ZTA we used our symbols and philanthropy, such as the white violet and breast cancer, as a theme for each day. We named it “These are a few of our favorite things” :)
Wizard of Oz –
Decorations: Incorporate the “yellow brick road” and the “there’s no place like home” quote in your decor.
Shirts/outfits: Red shoes are a must!- flats or heels would both work. Maybe order a shirt with one of the sayings from the movie or come up with a cool design with “brains, heart, and courage”.
Decorations: Red and blue colors with stripes! Design a banner that reads, “Sail away with *Your Sorority*”. Or Make some sailboat name tags for every potential new member to really go all out! You could also make big cut-out anchors with rope and fisherman’s netting to make it seem like you’re actually on a boat.
Shirts/outfits: Make a shirt that says “I’m on a boat” with fall/spring recruitment on the back with the name of your sorority. The girls will get a kick out of it! There’s also a really pretty Lilly Pulitzer print that goes perfectly with the nautical theme.
I hope this gave you a little inspiration to get the ball rolling. Get creative, have fun with it, and good luck!
