With 53% of the vote, it is our pleasure to announce Vicki Gerentes as the 2012 Greek Streak t-shirt contest winner! Vicki has won her Delta Gamma chapter; Eta Mu, at Lake Forest College, $250 in Greek Streak cash towards their next purchase! Here’s what Vicki had to say when we asked her to tell us a bit about the Delta Gamma Sorority, and why she joined her chapter at Lake Forest.
Hi! My name is Vicki Gerentes and I am a member of the Eta Mu chapter of Delta Gamma. I am a junior pursuing a major in English (creative writing) and a minor in digital media. I am involved in my chapter’s, Panhellenic Council, Eukaryon Science Journal, Honors Societies, and New Student Orientation. I have been working as a publishing assistant for Lake Forest College Press/ & NOW Books, designing book covers and layouts. I hope to pursue a career in publishing as an editor or book designer.
Delta Gamma has been the greatest miracle in my life. I was a commuter student during my freshman year of college, and had trouble meetings people. Joining DG not only introduced me to some of my best friends in life, but it also gave me the opportunity to grow as a leader and person. I have participated in philanthropies, social events, leadership retreats, and activities that have enhanced my college experience. I owe so much to Delta Gamma and everything it has done for me. The Eta Mu chapter might be small and new, but it is trying hard to “do good” and live up to the high ideals its founders established in 1873. Why do I love my chapter so much? Simple. We’re not afraid to be weird, silly, and fun. These women make me smile and laugh, and offer me outstanding support and good company. What more can I ask for? This is a photo from DG Dodgeball, which took place on November 8, 2012. Our shirts were from Greek Streak. All of the money raised from this fundraising event went to The Delta Gamma Foundation to support the blind and visually impaired.
We are so happy you ladies loved your Dodgeball shirts! Awesome Job, keep up the great work and again, congratulations!
