Tis the Season

The holidays are all about the spirit of giving. It’s a time to give thanks for all that we have be it family, friends, and the opportunities we’ve been given, most importantly gives us the chance to give back to those that are not as well-off as we are.

Here are a few organizations that we fully support in spreading holiday cheer:

1. Operation Christmas Child

Something so ordinary such as a shoebox can go a long way. All you have to do is first, decide whether you would like to fill a show box for a boy or girl. Next, fill it with goodies that are appropriate for a certain age group. Wrap the shoebox in wrapping paper, and bring it to a local drop off point to be delivered to a child in need.

2. Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels provides food to senior citizens that are bound to the confines of their own homes as well as at senior centers. Volunteers help prepare food as well as deliever it to seniors. This provides seniors with the chance to have a friendly interaction with people, something they may not have had in a while.

3. The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army can be found everywhere during the holidays, I’m sure you’ve seen their signature red bucket and volunteer with the bell. They actually do much more than collect money, they provide adult, child, and international support as well as help with disaster relief. You can donate online, donate goods, or become the next person to ask for donations.

4. Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity provides safe and affordable homes for less-fortunate people to live. Especially during the holiday season when temperatures can drop to below freezing, its’ extremely important to get people off the streets and in a safe/warm environment. Houses are built all over the U.S. and the world! As a volunteer you personally help build homes or you could donate materials/money to help more homes be built.
